I plan to add a roof air to my coach and have quotes for both Carrier and Coleman. Is there a prevailing opinion as to which is better?

The little Coleman I installed above my bedroom has been fantastic for six years now. Good luck!!

I like the Coleman a/c by RV Products, Inc.

I've heard that Carrier dropped out of the RV a/c business. You may be looking at an orphan unit.

I've heard the same regarding Carrier, otherwise am unfamiliar with the brand because I really haven't seen them on RVs. Most RVs have either Dometic or Coleman so that would be the best choice as far as finding parts or service. We have the Coleman RV Comfort units on our '07 Bus and had the Dometic Penguins on our '04 Bus. I prefer the Colemans over the Dometics. They use a vertical fan, similar to residential units, rather than the smaller horizontal blow fans that Dometic uses. It's quieter inside but a bit louder outside when they are running. The Colemans would be my choice.

If Carrier is still in the RV business, I'd rather have the Carrier unit.

Carrier is no longer making units for the RV industry. I guess they could not gain enough of the market from the other two big guys. I would have to do some consumer satisfaction studies to make a decision today as some of the newer models have not had much track time.
My two 11 year old Dometic low profile units have served us well. I am surprised they are still running after the summer in Az we put them through. 24/7 all summer long.

I found out the same thing with Carrier. I guess I'll be looking at Dometic and Coleman. I don't know much about Dometic, other than their other RV products.
