I have a 1998 HR with a 275 Cummins engine. Just purchased it last year. I want to change the antifreeze and hoses. I thought since I was draining the antifreeze it would be a good time to flush the system.

I am looking for a good procedure for flushing the system and ensure I get the air out of the system. I have heard there is bleeds on the engine but not sure where they are.

Looking for help from other RV owners

I do a few minor things on the coach...but I am not a "change anti-freeze" type gal.

I leave those things to SacsTC.

I'm not a maintenance pro but have read some about the procedure.

Since there is coolant in the dashboard heater system the tranny cooler and the engine block as well as the radiator and tank and etc, the experts recommend drain the radiator and refill with fresh water, then run the engine until warm enough to circulate the coolant again (dash heater must be on), then drain again. Repeat this cycle again. That should get most of the old coolant out and flush with system with fresh water. I suppose you could add a commercial flushing agent on one of the cycles, but the only folks I see recommending that are the folks that sell the stuff.

You may be able to find drain petcocks on the heater core and possibly elsewhere if you hunt, but this fill & flush 2x routine eliminates the hunt and substitutes a simple approach and fresh water.
