Changing auto awning to a 2 stage awning ?Y

So some errant trees 'meet' my current auto awning.
I was already not in love with the straight out deployment of this awning.
It has no adjustments, unless they are on the brackets that hold the awning to the RV.
The awning has NO mounting arms on the side of the RV, completely horizontal.

So given that I'm going to invest into a repair I'm trying to see how feasible going to a 2 stage awning would be.
The 2 stage would 'bend' down after extending out so far.
I've seen these on larger RVs, I don't know what would be required other than another switch maybe inside , and the new awning mechanism.

Any thoughts ?
Thanks
Bruce

Sure you can, just bring $. Figure at least $5,000 for each awning alone, then add the installation cost.

So I only have the one awning, and $5k may not be bad...
I have no idea what repairing the one that's on there will cost.

Thanks for the ball park figure though

Carefree makes a Travel'r with adjustable pitch arms, the arm upgrade kit is under $800. Likely you can just swap out the arms. Amazon has a kit for just under $750. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, you can get white or black. https://www.amazon.com/Carefree-OV25...SKEBEM6QX06G2D

That would work , but I don't have any hardware mounted on the side of the RV currently.

I converted from a manual to an electric awning on my previous coach. Doing so required replacement of the arms. Since I was keeping the same tube, I was able to locate the new arms in the same spots as the original, so I knew the location of the framing to attach the new arms to.

In your case, since there is no existing hardware on the side of the coach, you would have to locate it. With any luck, you may find the framing is situated to match awning widths, and buy the complete assembly you want in the size necessary to attach the new arms to the wall.

Regarding the mounting of the new arms, when I bought my conversion kit, it came with rivets and the instructions had a section that addressed riveting the arms to the wall if there wasn't available framing to screw into. I wouldn't be comfortable trusting rivets to hold the arms on the wall skin, but mention it because the manufacturer (Carefree in my case) offered the option.
