Changing hoses

How often should the engine hoses be changed on a Workhorse chassis, years, mileage?, ie: radiator hoses, etc. Thanks ........

Our ten year old Safari Trek with a Chevy 454 had 21,000 miles on it when I elected to change all hoses engine and heater. The mechanic asked it I wanted the engine hoses as spares as they were in great shape. I tossed them. The heater hoses were leaking and we were using cooling(about a pint a day). Incidentally we just sold a 99 Chevrolet Silverado with the same engine with 75,00 miles on it with original engine hoses and new heater hoses. It is easier to spot the leaking hoses on a pick up truck than on a motor home.

Have fun
Milt

Here is the rules I live by concerning general maintenance on my coach.
at 75,000 I had every hose changed on the coach. they can look good and rotten on the inside.
At 75,000 I had every liquid changed on the coach. Yep, break fluid, tranny fluid, rear end fluid, and every liquid replaced with filter changes and or cleaning as necessary. (of course I change the oil every 3000 miles)
Before a long trip like up to Alaska or Nova Scotia I take the coach to my mechanic and tell him to check the oil and everything else concerning the coach. He does a big ''crawl around'' under, over, inside, outside and everywhere else and checks everything and it is the cheapest 25 dollars I ever spend. Dave does all my coach work and he knows my coach like it was his.

HELPFUL HINT.... If you ever have to ''burn your brakes'' going down a long hill please check the fluid. If it has turned BLACK from the heat, it is burned and should be replaced. Bleed all four wheels until NEW FLUID comes out the nipple and refill the tank as necessary.......
This valuable advise is ten cents if you use it and you must pay me the next time you see me. .............
