Charcoal grills vs. Gas grills

I cooked on gas grills over my years of boating and camping, So this yr I decided to go with a Aussie Charcoal grill. What do most of you RVers grill with or prefer?

I recently switched from coal to gas for the ease of it.

I greatly prefer cooking on charcoal, but especially being solo, I use propane now.

Both

I keep a bag of briquetts and usually stick one near the flame of my propane grill. Can't beat the flavor of real charcoal!

I travel with both charcoal and gas just large enough for the two of us. Gas for convenience and charcoal when I have time for some real grilling. both units are very small.

Bought a new stainless portable grill last fall to replace my old charcoal grill. Still haven't opened the box. Having a hard time making the change with the good results we get from the ole charcoal grill.

Hi

I really like charcoal but it rare when we use that BBQ, I bought a little 220 Weber a few years back and use that everyday when we are out, it's been
The Best BBQ I have ever had and in 5 minutes its ready to go. Convenience wins out here.. Maybe this year will use the Charcoal BBQ more.

I prefer wood but charcoal is 2nd. Nothing beats a real wood fire and real wood flavor.
I consider gas or propane just an outdoor stove top and if I wanted to cook on a stove top I would cook inside. But that's me. Thou they do now make a grill that has propane on one side and has a wood/charcoal grill with a smoker box on the other side. It is very large so I doubt we will get that for the RV.

Campfire if possible.

Alternative: Weber Q100.

Weber q 200 and a smokey joe. Smokey joe when I have time to do a nice steak. One thing to consider is there were a few parks last year that were not allowing any charcoal due to the extreme drought, gas only.

I carry charcoal and a "starter chimney" for use in campgrounds that have charcoal grills available. I also carry a propane grill for convenience. My preference would be charcoal.
