All three of mine motorhomes have charged the chassis battery from shore power. Different manufacturers or sometimes even different brands/models of the same manufacturer do things differently.

On ou Airstream MH the chassis bat and the coach bats are separated, but there is an AUX BAT switch on the dashboard that connects them all together. For some reason Airstream saw fit to have the TV connected to the the chassis bat. We discovered that if we are parked for a while and watch much TV it runs down the chassis batt. So, Periodically I close the AUX Bat switch so that all the bats are connected and the shore power then charges the chassis bat too.

I'm not sure about my current rig, but I know for sure my 98 Sea View charged both house and chassis batteries from shore, gen and engine alternator power. I had a lot of battery problems when new and at diffent times charged all batteries by each means.
