The check engine light on my 93 Brave with GM 454 was coming on periodically recently. I greatly prefer to do my own maintenance, so I'm guessing a code reader is in order. I found this discussion helpful: Engine code reader but OBD II seems to apply to 95 and later vehicles. Will something like the Equus GM code reader ( http://www.summitracing.com/catalogs...pril/258f.html ) help me figure out what's going on?

Even better, does anyone know of a reader that will work on the 93 Brave 454, my wife's 2000 Firebird, and my 2006 Silverado?

Thanks for any help!

Dave

Best reader for that early GM system is a papper clip across a&b terminals at the aldl plug under the dash.
Check engin light will flash code 12 3 times then will flash engen codes. I bet its an 02 sensor code or egr code..
