Checking HWH Leveling System Fluid Level
On a recent trip out of Maine, two of our leveling jacks wouldn't retract. With the help of HWH (over the phone), I was able to diagnose the problem and eventually installed two new solenoid valves. The system works fine now. By the way, the folks at HWH were very helpful. However, I have a question regarding the hydraulic fluid (which I should have asked them). When the problem first occurred, I checked the fluid level and noticed that it was down by more than a quart. But when I added more fluid, it ultimately came out (via the breather cap) when the system was in operation. My guess is that the fluid level in the reservoir varies depending on the operational status of the system. At any rate, does anyone have any suggestions on the proper way to check the hydraulic fluid level? In other words, do you check it hot or cold? When the jacks and slide-outs are in or out? Does any of this matter? I have a 325 series system with telescoping jacks. Thank you in advance.
