While watching our 20" RCA TV in the MH bedroom; the picture went to half frame then blank THEN smoke came boiling out from behind the unit. By time I got the unit switched off and unplugged it had filled the bedroom with smoke!! What a nasty buring smell.

We were very very lucky to get the power shutoff before a fire broke out. Before I get into my rant over this RCA failure I just wanted everyone to know that we are thankful to only loose a TV; it could have been tragic.

Now, the unit has a 2-year warranty and we got it 2 1/2 years ago when we purchased out MH. I have never had a TV give up so quickly; I sent RCA an email but I'm not planning on getting any help from them.

My question is, how do I go about replacing this TV with a LCD? Has any one done this without reworking the cabinet? My TV was 20 3/4" Wide and 19 1/2" High.

And for those of you with a RCA unit my model number is: 20F41OT. I've asked RCA about a recall on this model and will keep you posted on their response.

We are extremely thankful no one was injured and that we still have a motorhome.

You will need to decide if you want a 16:9 (widescreen) or 4:3 (standard) aspect ratio.

Also, consider how you will mount the new TV. Most all of the flat panel TV's have a way to securely mount the TV on a wall. You will need to fabricate a framework in the existing TV cavity to position the LCD TV at the front.

Are there TV's that run off 12 volts or do all just run off an inverter? This might be something else you would want to consider.
