CoachNet vs FMCA Assistance Plan

I have seen and read numerous threads discussing CoachNet vs GoodSam Roadside Assistance plans, but can't find any discussion on the FMCA plan through SafeRide Motor Club. Looking for input and experiences with SafeRide and how it compares with CoachNet. I currently have the Premier Coach Plan with CoachNet and it is close to renewal time. For roughly the same money I can join FMCA, and purchase their plan. From what I read it seems more restrictive than CoachNet. Don't bother to comment on GoodSam - they're not in the running at all. Thanks for your input.

If all else is about the same, why would you consider it if it is more restrictive?

I have been an FMCA member for many years and have not heard of any offer for Saferide Motor Club before. I see they are located in TX but I see nothing on their website about RVs, 24 hr tech assistance, etc. Coach-Net has served me well. I would want to know a LOT more before considering a switch.

FMCA, CoachNet, Good Sam...all about the same, many have had good experiences and bad. It's a toss up.

I've had CoachNet for six and am pleased with the service received the times that I have used it. However as a member of FMCA I noticed they used to advertise the Roadservice was powered by VAS and recently under their name through SafeRide Motor Club. Checking both the VAS VAS - Vehicle Administrative Services, LTD. and SafeRide http://www.saferidemotorclub.com/pro...s.aspxwebsites - It seems that VAS is a company that markets branded products to clubs and associations to resell. They specifically mention that the sell Road Service to clubs and associations through their affiliate SafeRide Motor Club and organizations can use this as a new revenue stream. That doesn't necessarily make it bad but it does explain why there is a lack of information on the SafeRide Motor Club page as opposed to the detailed information on the FMCA Page https://www.fmca.com/benefits/fmca-roadassist.html which shows it to be very close if not the same as CoachNet. For me I am loyal to those that provided good service to me so I am staying with CoachNet.

The question that comes to mind is why is CoachNet charging an extra $100 the first year ($249 and $149 to renew). Clubs do it because of the stuff they send you when you join but with CoachNet you get nothing. Is it to make you think twice before switching or is it people are switching and coming back in droves and causing bookkeeping issues. VAS/SafeRide MC could be providing branded road service to many companies possibly Good Sam, Ford, Winnebago, etc. that sells or offers road service as a first year benefit.

If you are looking for the reason the FMCA selected SafeRide why not ask the them. Recently I sent President Adcock an email on another topic and immediately got a response and I spoke to him on the phone the next day. Can't beat that.

We'd been with CoachNet for several years, since their premium plan included vehicle return if the driver wasn't able. Now that FMCA again has that benefit as part of membership, it was more cost-effective for us to renew elsewhere. Opted to go back to Good Sam - had them before - used them once - no issues. Luckily never needed to use Coachnet for those years we were with them. FMCA roadside assistance simply cost more than the equivalent plan with Good Sam.

Irsses - you have an FMCA "Membership", or the FMCA Roadside Assistance Plan? The FMCA Membership includes FMCAssist, which is NOT Roadside Assistance, but rather a way to get you and your coach back to your home base should you (or family member) become ill or injured (or worse...) while on the road. FMCA also offers an optional Roadside Assistance plan, but that is not included in the membership like FMCAssist, it costs about $109 a year the last time I checked.
