CPAP machine on my Inverter

Hi all,
Rookie Question:
I have a Xantrex Inverter/Charger on my TropiCal T370 DP. I have no manual for it, so I'm flying blind here.
I have severe Sleep Apnea, so I must use my CPAP Machine very night. If we do an overnight at a Walmart or Flying J etc., can I run my CPAP (AC) using the Inverter or must I use my Onan Generator ?

My CPAP runs just fine off our Freedom 458 (MSW) inverter, yours may not. It depends on the unit. My instructions say not to run off any inverter but their very expensive one if I'm using the humidifier

If it's a pure sine wave inverter, you should have no problems at all. Assuming you have enough capacity in your battery bank, of course. I don't know what model Xantrex you have.

If you have a modified sine wave inverter, I would check with your CPAP manufacturer.

We have a pure sine wave inverter, and no problems with my CPAP.

My Inverter is the Xantrex Freedom 458. I've not pressed any buttons on my Wall panel yet, so I'm not sure what the procedure is for using a wall outlet off the Inverter.

Does your CPAP machine have an option to run directly off 12v DC?

I can use my Respironics machine with an adapter that plugs in a 12v cigarette lighter socket. I can't use the heated humidifier, but for a night or two it doesn't matter much. I added a 12v socket in my night stand.

Coulter6: Yes, it does run off 12v DC, but if I don't use the humidifier I'm sneezing and blowing for days on end. So, I need the AC.

Any reason you don't want to run your generator?? Look on bottom of CPAP and heater and it should tell you the number of amp hours needed. Once you determine that multiply times the hours you sleep and that will tell you the amps you will drain out of batteries. shouldn't be all that many.

If I'm not hooked to shore power I run my generator.

The answer depends on several things.

First: How much SPARE 12 volt power do you have.. Each pair of GC-2 six volt batteries provides about 1,000 watt hours of power. (Usable power, figure is rounded) does not matter if it's 12 volt or 120 volt power save for conversion loss.

Xantrex makes many inverters, Some are TRUE and some MODIFIED sine wave.

Some devices object to MSW.. This does not mean your machine will. .Generally heaters (Like the humidifier) and devices which run on wall wart power adapters (sounds like yours does) are happy with MSW. Generally.

Running the genset all night would be frowned on in some (many?) places. Could get you evicted even.

I have a Magnum 2000 MSW inverter and have the Respironics CPAP with humidifier. I have run it all night on the inverter without any problems. I also have 300 amp hours of battery.

The last time I checked, the Resmed site says their machines require true sine wave inverters.
My Respironics machines say a 300 watt MSW inverter is okay. My last unit was a Respironics Remestar Pro and the current one is a Respironics System One Pro.
The humidifier on both can run on 12 vdc.
