Critters and wires...

I think it was squirrels (tree rats with fuzzy tails), may have been mice.

Used the right turn signal, looked good until I stepped on the brakes, flashing arrow went steady on ??? . Then when I turned running lights on, Rt signal arrow again came on steady. Checked bulbs, fuses etc.. also noticed with right turn signal on, right brake light flashed in unison with the turn signal. .. running out of answers when I ..Found this...

The wiring was part of a nest, leaves, twigs, acorns- in the bottom of the rear cap. I've always been unhappy with the bundles of wire, cables etc -coiled up under the motorhome by Freightliner or Georgie boy. But- In this case I was able to pull enough wiring out through the rear brake light opening to repair the damage (solder and heat shrink). Covered the wiring with corrugated split conduit cover. (Can't believe a fuse didn't blow) I did use up my semi-annual allotment for profanity in the process..

I'm trying an animal repellant product to see if it will keep critters out of that area. (Shotgun Animal repellant from Tractor supply) We will see...

It might be time to get a cat. Or start feeding the neighbors cat so he hangs out on your property more.

I've got the Pug chasing the squirrels now and she does a pretty good job, she just hasn't got the knack for climbing trees yet....

Not my first run in with squirrels. I've posted before about my 90 MH, they ate the sending unit wires off the top of the gas tank. Had to lower the tank and replace and encase the wires. I guess the real answer is to keep the RV moving faster than squirrel speed...

Yep. Got to my third brake light this year. Every year I close off their paths inside. and every year they find new ones.
