Cruise control problem

1994 Holiday Rambler Endeavor LE on Oshkosh chassis, Cummins diesel, Allison 6 speed, the cruise control has been fine for several years, just started not dis-engaging when brake pedal pressed. Can turn off with switch on steering wheel, but once or twice didn't want to shut off even then. Any ideas on where to start? Am concerned what would happen if couldn't turn off at all, what to do in that case? Thanks, HarveyP

Old post, but now I can answer my own question. It turned out to be the switch for the brake lights. It is mounted so that the brake pedal linkage touches the switch. After re-adjusting the position a couple of times, I priced a new one at Napa. Replaced the switch for under $3 and no problems since then. I took Ford numbers from the old switch and Napa crossed it to one of theirs. HarveyP
