Is anyone using the Culligan RV-1000 drinking water filter system? If so how do you like it? We are thinking about getting one. How tall is the unit including the filter cartridge? I can't find any information on dimensions. Thanks in advance for any info.

Gary,

It's looks like a good system... The sytem coats $75 and the filters are $30 per (6 month usage).

I use a $25 Omni whole house filter to filter the water to the entire coach. I can get 2 pack filters for about $9 and I change them every 3 months.

I installed a $160 Watts RO system under the sink (3 filters, a membrane-the RO part and a final filter) so I have crystal clear drinking water. The replacement filters cost $30 for a 1 year supply. The RO membrane is replaced every 2 years and cost about $30.

Doesn't the RO system "use" (as in waste) water as it processes pure water?? I have heard stories like 3 gallons lost down the drain as waste for every 1 gal pure water made. Any truth to that?

Yes - many systems are 3 to 1. But, you can get a "0" usage version for about $250. For those that want save a bit of water you can route the waste water to the the fresh water tank and use it to flush or shower with.

Hello Gary & Mary,

We use the RV 1000 filter and find it better for us than the others. Actually, we adapted it to the system that came with our MH. For us, it only required connecting the water lines to the RV 1000. It is easy to replace the filter with only a 1/4 turn and no need to disconnect and then re-connect water lines. Sorry, don't recall the height of the filter. We buy the filters either at Camping World or Sears. Since it is a Culligan system there are probably other places to buy the filters too.
