Recently purchased a 2001 Monaco with the ISM 500 Cummins engine. My previous Cummins powered RV had fuel/water separator and a black plastic fuel filter about the size of a small tea glass mounted on top of the engine (accessible by raising the bed access hatch). This engine has the same f/w separator and a large fuel filter (almost as big as a LF3000 oil filter) below the engine. I keep reading about "secondary filters" on these engines but I have crawled, poked and scraped every where I can imagine but cannot find another fuel filter location. Anyone know if there is another one hidden somewhere?
BTW: the hydraulic filter is lower than the fluid reservoir and the flow rate of ATF when the filter is removed is approximately 1 gallon per minute and it takes approximately two minutes to dig the old gasket out and stuff a new one in and get the new filter screwed in place while the stream of fluid is running down your arms and dripping off your shoulder blades!
