In our small older Class C, when storing over the winter in cold, wet BC we used to one of those crystal holder thingees to take the dampness out of the air. It sure used to collect a lot of liquid, but sure caused a problem when it got spilled once on the carpet. Collected moisture on that area for as long as we owned it. Thank heavens it was a small area in a corner of the bedroom.

Has anyone any other solutions? I have heard there is some type of electrical unit, but not sure if we can use this as we have to store our unit at a friends and don't want to add a pile to his electric bill.

Any ideas are appreciated. We really want to take care of our new "baby".

Check this out. One unit will take care of 1,000 sq. ft. and draws no more current than an average light bulb.

"Damp Rid" makes a sealed product that hangs on a hook. We have used it and it works well. Just throw it away when it full; no leaks. It's available on line, at Lowes and Camping world.

I used damprid in a storage trailer once. I placed the container on a wire shelf over a 5 gallon bucket.When the container filled it just ran into the bucket.Those wave units don't remove any moisture. They just warm the air a little to raise the dew point.

An inexpensive de-humidifier is your best bet. Keep it on low and run the hose out a window. We've used one for years.

I would hardly call 120 watts "an average lightbulb". That's more like a spotlight and a good sized one at that! That takes 3600 watts per day, so is going to add about $0.60/day to his friend's electric bill unless he lives in the Pacific Northwest where hydroelectric power is cheap.

Actually, that is exactly where I live - In BC, Canada.
But we were at Camping World on the weekend and picked up a couple of extra of the crystal type containers, so will be using them. I will just be extra careful not to spill any of the liquid this time.

I use a couple of shallow trays filled with Kitty Kitter. I don't live in a challenging area but it has worked well for me.

Here are a couple of other options for electrical air dryers. I use 2 of the 130 watt version in my 34' motorhome, have not had any problems here in the damp, wet, rainy Pacific Northwest.
