When having anything done get the repair price up front sometimes it works in your favor. I had my gen set worked on and got the price was parts plus labor price they gave me when I got the bill they had double the labor to bad so sad you already gave me the price.

In Ohio, if a repair is going to be more than $25, you have a right to a written estimate. The final price cannot be more than 10% over that estimate with out consent. I'm sure other states have similar laws.

Many other states (including Wisconsin) have similar laws. If you look closely I think you'll find they only apply to automobiles and light trucks. Estimates aren't required over a certain weight. In Wisconsin I believe it's 10,000 lbs.
