United States Decal Maps

So it was asked of me how do I determine if to put a state on my map. Does it show where I have been, ie passed thru or does it show where I have RV'd (stayed at)?
It thought it was a good question and figured I would ask everyone else that has one on their MH, What exactly does it indicate?

Where you have been?

or

Where you have stayed in an RV?

or

Both

So please everyone chime in.

The best thing about RVing is you can do it your way!

Thanks for asking. As a newbie, we have been wondering the same thing. My Bride would answer, drive through, while I would answer that we would have to stay at least one night, and truth be told I would probably answer actually set up camp and did some "looking around". Can't wait to see what the consensus is, although it is hard to argue with the initial response.

On a related note, what map do you have and where did you get it?

Gotta stay overnight!

I put a state up only if we have camped there at least one night.

Passing through doesn't count ...

I bought my states map from CW, and I got the matching map of Canada directly from the company, Brothers http://www.brothersmanufacturing.com

I don't have a map. I like seeing them on the RV's, but never bought one for ours. I would have a hard time deciding if it was just for the rv trips or camping trips in general. I have camped in about 75% of our states, but it hasn't all been in an rv.

If my RV tires touch that state, a sticker goes on the map.

We don't have one on the RV. We have a 4' x 6' map on the wall in the den and a box of red and blue stick pins.

If we've RV'd there it gets a red stick pin, if we've flown our plane there, it gets a blue stick pin.

The holes or gaps in the pins help us plan our next trips.

Our map counts only states where have stayed overnight in the coach. My wife's rules, and she is tough about it.

I was told one time that for a visit to count you must stop and go to the bathroom.

As Frank said,"I did it my way".

It's up to you how you want them to count. For us when we got the map it was on a round robin 4 week tour/changing jobs thing. We went from SoCal to FL to SC to VA to MI and back to SoCal. Few other stops in between. I used the map to denote where we had been no matter if we stayed there or not. Realized that Thom and I went thru/stayed in 21 states in that trip.

Not a trip we want to repeat again that fast. We did get to stop off and see some old friends on that trip and we just found out that the wife passed away on Sunday. She had battled stage 4 cancer for 3 years and had told her husband on Friday that she was done fighting .... leaving behind 2 small children and her husband but now she is no longer in pain and even thou the trip was too much too fast that is one part I will not begrudge is seeing them one more time before she left this earth.
