That is very good info for anyone using the DEF in a jug.

Yeah, I bought a set of used spark plug wires once. Didn't know it till I got home with them.

I did in fact purchase DEF from Walmart that had been opened. Wasn't sure if DEF was replaced with water so I returned and got another jug. I now make it habit to remove the cap to be certain the seal hasn't been broken.

I do that as well but you also have to be careful that some kook didn't re-glue the seal, I know this may seem far-fetched but these days you can't trust anything. I usually make sure the seal is "sealed" all the way around and looks "factory fresh". I bought this reasonably priced tester from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Thexton-THE10...s%2C166&sr=8-7

I filled a jug with DEF from a truck stop pump and tested it, the tester registered exactly as it should for good DEF. I also used the tester on plain water (since I was going to rinse it out anyway) and the reading was "bad". I think this will at least help and give peace of mind should you buy any "box" brand DEF.

Actually its fairly easy to remove the seal and put it back on without anyone knowing the difference. I wont say how here but its real simple. This is why I always use the tester, its the only way to be sure.
