Hi -

I have a new 2004 GS SunVoyager Atrium.

During the walkthrough, the dealer pointed out the stereo system and how it worked. He said something about the DHS-logo on the 5 speakers and he thought it stood for 'Digital Home Stereo' or some-such, but I never gave it much attention. However, this morning while wandering thru some other posts on the Winnie and Alpine forums, I noticed several threads about DHS being an actual type of stereo, and not just a speaker-brand. I checked the RiverPark website, but all it had was a bit of troubleshooting data.

Questions....

1) Is it possible that I just have DHS speakers and not an entire DHS system?
2) Does it have to work with the special amp?
3) What would the amp look like (if I have one), and anyone with a GulfStream have any idea where it might be?
4) If you have a DHS system, do you like the sound? Would you recommend it as an installation?

Whatever I have in there now sounds pretty darn anemic (and that's being nice, a $10 clockradio would be an improvement). Any help would be appreciated.

TIA,
Ron

I would recommend you call Gulf Stream for the answers. It may just be an incorrect setting that has the system sounding anemic. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, RV Wizard (BTW, which floorplan do you have?)

I'll give 'em a call when they open. I think they're going to recognize my voice pretty soon, I've had a bunch of questions since I got the rv. It's new but had been on the dealer-lot for awhile, and I believe there's a few things not on it that should have been there from the factory, and vice versa. It has certainly been a learning experience, I gotta tell you - hasn't been any area or funcion that I haven't been into.

I was hoping one of the 'real' experts would have some pointers in the meantime over the weekend, and I could puzzle it out sooner.
What does the amp look like? I'm assuming it is powered, so there must be a hot-lead going to it, yes? Do they typically have a separate on-off switch? (Maybe I could start there)

Thanks!
Ron

ronboc, I wish I could help you with the stereo but I do not have nor know anything about your brand. I would expect that there would be 12 volt power needed, maybe even 120 volt.
We have a single livingroom/diningroom slide (14'), walk thru bath w/ jacuzzi tube and centered queen bed over engine compartment. Has Tourmaster package in this mellinium edition. It has performed very well for us ofer the years.

Ron,
We have a 2004 Gulf Stream Yellowstone DP with the DHS speakers mounted in the ceiling. The speakers are hooked up to two components in our coach, the ASA Sat/AM/FM/6 CD in dash radio and the Sony DVD/CD Surround sound sytem.

The sound that comes out of the speakers is great, clear and loud if you want it to be with the Sony surround sound. We love to watch DVD movies with the surround sound and also listen to CD's played on it.

We have found out that with the in dash radio which has a 20 watt output, that with the volumne turned down the sound is sort of "tinny" and not clear. But if you turn the volumne up on the radio to about half of the volumne scale that shows on the radio display, the sound is great just like when the Sony surround sound unit is pushing the speakers.

It must have something to do with the power output between the two components.

These speakers were developed by Gulf Stream and Sony originally exclusively for Gulf Stream as "G-Surround ceiling insert speakers".
I don't know when or where the DHS label came from or if maybe DHS is making them for Gulf Stream now.

So try "cranking up" the volumne to see if you notice the difference, of course try not to disturb the neighbors.

Hope this info helps.

Ron
