Digging for the dirt.

Hi everyone. Here is the question. In the search where has everyone gone to get the dirt on their rig. We are looking at used so want to know all the facts. Did you use Carfax or another site to get information.

Thanks for any leads.

I used AutoCheck (I had a coupon) and got the same history I would have gotten from CarFax. I know because when I flew in to view and buy the RV the dealer had a CarFax printout for me and they were identical.

Carfax is OK to find out if it's been in an accident, how many owners but not the condition of the coach. They had one for mine, but after I bought it I found out it had leaky roof, a leaky water heater, old coach batteries, the entry stars were damaged. None of this was on the Carfax report. The next coach I buy I will know what to look at. Make sure you climb on the roof and look at it, I was looking at one at a dealer and climbed on the roof and it was torn up.

I don't think AutoCheck or Carfax promises the kind of information you needed. The mileage, previous owners, accident and insurance claims is what records they scan.

Your nose, educated eyes, and suppression of emotions is what you have to bring to the lot when inspecting an RV.
