Directv or dishnet
We just bought our first class A and want to know which is the prefered..... Directtv or Dish Net? Does anyone have any input?

Dish Net gets my vote. From what I have read on the forums Dis Net is more friendly to RV's than Direct TV.

We have Dish because that is what we had at home before buying the RV. I am happy with the service. I have East Coast and West Coast feeds via All American Direct, our friends with Direct TV only have East Coast feeds available.

Depending on how much you plan on using your RV, Dish offers a more flexible program payment option with their pay-as-you-go plan. The only drawback is you have to buy your receivers and pay a one time set up charge for HD and DVR useage and you are limited to the VIP 211K receiver. The good part is you can stop the service when you are not using the RV and restart it again when you start using it again without any change fees or monthly charges when you are not using the service. The pay-as-you-go plan is only available through Pace International or Winegard, do not call Dish directly they will not know what your talking about. Nothing like this is offered by Direct.

Your friends are behind the times. You can get East and West coast channels on DirecTV. They are available in both SD and HD.

I vote DISH. you can not get HD with directTV with any of the dome type dishes. Dish's customer service is horrible but if you buy the pay as you go service through Winegard, you won't have to deal directly with them.

Don't understand your post about DirecTV. You can move your receiver from a stationary place to your RV. There is no stopping and starting involved. What is not flexible about that? You are dealing with one company, not two.

You are comparing apples and oranges. When you move your receiver in and out of the house, you are still paying for service year round. With the pay as you go plan, you just have service in the RV. You start and stop it as required. Many people don't have (or want) sat service at home and just want it for the RV in certain months.

You are right, my mistake, I didn't think about land line RV TV service. I assumed you used satellite TV for both Home and RV. I've never used Dish so I don't know anything about their service.

DirectTV doesn't charge you extra if you haven't got your phone line attached. I think Dish does.

We have Direct TV in both the coach and our house and keep both active year around. When rig parked at home and DW wants to watch a program on house TV & I want to watch something different, I just go out and watch it in the coach.

We have had Dish in our rig since 2000, and have been very happy with it. Being full timers we don't have to worry about moving it.
