I agree with some of the other posts, in that I'm a combination of several of the options provided. Somewhere between B and C.
About the only thing I won't do is transmission work (other than replacing a filter and gasket). Transmissions require a degree in Wizardry. I also won't tear deep into an engine, due to lack of the specialty tools. but will go as far as the heads.

I rated myself a C however in my 40+ yrs of owing RV I've tackled fiberglass repair, Assisted son in law with a body off frame repair on Airstream. Replaced the rod in a class C Cabover and mad it as good as new. And I fix everything from a converter replacement to plumbing damage. The only thing I won't do is tear into the engine and transmission. My RV repair shop will sometimes tell me how to go about the job but unless time is an issue I almost always do the work.

While I personally don't do mechanical work on our coach my husband does. I'd give him an A- on DIY items.... replaced rear sway bar bushings, Air ride bags, water heater, new faucet in shower, new return spring on leveling jacks ( made a tool at work to pop em off and put new on ). Change out microwave with minor adjustments for smaller size unit.
I've only worked on cosmetic issues inside coach ( 2003 coachman mirada) basically adding curtains, rugs and such. We're Still a handful of years from retirement so plan on more updates and upgrades as needed.

I'm definitely an "A" on everything, except body work, but that choice was not really available.
I've installed a full set of hydraulic jacks on a Class C, which I did a step by step on this site, complete with pictures. Installed a Traveler satellite dish, and fixed a few of them. Solved 2 issues with my generator that involved ordering parts both times. Installed a central vac, and completely redid the flooring in one coach we had, removing the front seats, couch and dinette, and installing the floating flooring throughout. Looked like a different rig inside.
Much more, but pretty much would do anything except like I said, body work. So I try not to hit stuff with my rig.
