It looks like a good alternative to tire covers that blow off.

No covering used. No cracking after 8 years on my G670's. The blowout I did have this last summer was on an inside dual (not a lot of sun there, right?).

No cracking on the 2003 G670s I just replaced with Toyos. The Toyos ride quieter.

I don't cover and don't use 303. I change tires at 7 years or when they wear out, which usually is about the same time anyway. Have never found a need to cover them and we live in Florida too. Your mileage may vary.

I've got a 2004 with 40" original tires only 15,000 miles. Looks like I just bought them. Are you telling me I'm on borrowed time with these tires?

I just bought a 2004 Sea Breeze with only 15K on it. The tires were great looking 2003 Goodyear G670s and I just replaced them with Toyo's. 7-8 years max.

I have done nothing to my tires except wash them. Tires were new in 2004 and had a blowout in 2009 (late). As the old saying goes.....RV tires rot way before they ever wear out. Replace in year 6, 7 or 8, depending on your risk tolerance and your belief in what the 'experts' tell you. Given the above, I seriously doubt whether covering them, applying 303 or whatever would extend their useful life more than 7-8 years. Not worth the risk IMHO!

You apparently missed the whole point of covering tires ...it is NOT to make them last longer, etc, it is to help keep them in safe operating condition (just like regularly checking and maintaining correct pressures) throughout their 6-7 year life so you are less likely to have a blowout on a 5 year old tire just as you said you did! The simple act of covering a $400-$500 tire with a cover that cost me maybe $15 eight years ago is WELL WORTH the few minutes it takes me if that helps make my RV safer to drive!

I would consider changing the steer tires soon because they are most likely 8 years old now. If one of your steer tires blows you will regret that you did not change them.

The tire store was surprised at how good my 2003 G670s looked last week. Lots of tread and zero cracking. 8 years old with 15K on them. As much as I wanted to keep them, I hate blowouts. "ST" rated trailer tires gave me enough grief. Not to mention having the rear of my truck bed blown off twice by Michelin blow-outs.

I have an 04 and replaced my tires last year with only 13,000 mi. Tread was like new, but from info on this forum, I decided it was for safety's sake. Feel better when on the highway.

I cover my tires for two reasons:
1. Keep UV rays off the surface.
2. I don't have to polish my rims as frequently. And I like to keep them looking nice along with keeping them from pitting.
Well worth the money to keep them covered.

Mine is a 2004 that had low mileage original tires, and had covers on them. They all looked great, one of the resins I bought the motorhome. 2 blowout, rear inside tires, first time on highway. I personally for myself will change to new tires every 5 or 6 years, no matter what they look like, or how many miles are on them.
