The only time we get bottles of water is after the current bottle is about 3 or 4 weeks old. We use a few bottles to refill with water from just about any source - CG, Tank, or what ever. As a matter of fact Thom found me a container that is 50 ozs so that I can put water and then one packet of Crystal Lite.
You really want a shock then look at the testing of the bottled water. Most are just tap water anyway and some are way worse then a lot of taps. I know some won't agree with the tests. But if you are that concerned than get a whole house filter and put that on your RV. If you do a whole house filter from like Lowe's or Home Depot than the filters will be way cheaper to replace and you can find them just about anywhere.

Been RV'ing since 1957, have always drunk water from the tank. I carry at least a ½ tank (about 50 gallons) at all times. If I'm in a bad water area (like Yuma), I can use from my tank till I get to an area with better water and refill. The water in potable water systems is tested by government agencies before the system is allowed to be used.

Yeah, even after sitting for 6 months. Bottle water has no taste.

I use a house filter after the water pressure regulator followed by a TravelSoft water softener. Our FW tank is always sanitary BUT we do not use it for drinking or cooking. We use RO water for cooking or bottled water for drinking.

We use the water in the FW tank for showers, brushing teeth, toilet, washing hands, and for ice cubes.

We don't use it for cooking or drinking because of the sodium level from the softener.

Yes,the sodium issue needs to be considered since enough of us are concerned about dietary sodium. The small RO system that Lowes sells, is our choice in the MH. Campground water tastes just as good as the water from our big expensive one in our stick house. We flush and wash with the water from the holding tank.

I have a friend who's lived in Mexico for 20+ years. He says the same thing to everyone who visits, "drink the tap water, it's fine, I drink it every day".

Drink the water from the tank. Bathe in it, cook with it, wash dishes with it, and the dog drinks it. No problems.

Hi Penster:

My husband used to work for a bottling plant that bottled Pepsi products and Aquafina. You would be surprised where the water came from. It was WELL water... admittedly it was filtered 7 times and hit with ozone to purify it. Other bottling plants bottle city water with the same processes.

If you take proper care of your fresh water tanks, sanitize them, and use a filter, you should be good to go.
