Dometic window awning tension

I jhad a new Dometic window awning installed by CW on my new coach. i notice that there is not a lot of tension on it, requiring me to use the pull down rod and gently assist the awing in retracting. is this normal? if not, how do you tighten up the tension?

You can add a few rounds, the window awnings are not to bad like the big ones but they will still hurt if you let go of the winding device.

To add rounds remove the nut and bolt at the bottom of the arm and wind it clockwise away from the unit put the same amount in both sides till you like the tension.

You can also do it from the top of the arm by removing the screw and with some vice grips with a cloth piece in the jaws to prevent damage to the end cap. just open the window awning and have someone hold the strap put the VG in the arm and grab the bottom of the end cap and wind per above.

Take it back and have them do it right as that's what you paid for. Another shining example of CW's fine work quality. NOT. I would also have them check any others that they may have been less than diligent on. No reason for you to put yourself at risk for possible injury to perform something your not familiar with.

i agree, however i refuse to ever go back again to the CW in Boise. besides keeping the coach much longer than needed for warranty repairs (near 2 months), they scratched the paint installing the awning, requring them to keep the coach another few weeks to do a 2 hour repair. they really are a joke in customer service. learn from my mistakes i guess!

I would send an email to the Chairman/CEO of CW outlining the problem(s). It's my understanding that he "will" address the problem.
