Dometic Window Awnings

Just bought a 08 38ft Bounder DP It came with Dometic window awnings. The first two I pulled out refused to retract. After researching the design they seem to be a pretty simple mechanism. Both ends attach to some either torsion bar or spring withing the bar creating more force to retract the awning. My two both had ends that refused to retract or move once pulled out. They act as if they are seized tight on that end. If the spring/bar broke I would expect the end to freely turn, likewise if the spring/bar detached from either the end or wherever it mount internally. The bearing at the end is so short I can't imagine it binding this tight (tried a generous bath of WD40)

The next step seems to remove the bar, drill out the rivets and see what's inside.

Has anyone else out there had any similar problem with a Dometic window awning???

Any and all help of suggestions would be appreciated!

The springs are probably broken.

Thanks Mike!
I guess I just have to drill the rivets out and check it out. I hate to say it but Dometic hasn't been any help. I've reached out to them twice now without any response on their part. Both my contacts were made via their website contact form. I hope I'm able to obtain parts if I need them.

Thanks again!
