Door privacy window shade

I have a problem with my door privacy window shade. It is the old style type shade that you would pull down. It pulls down and retracts just fine.
The problem is that it will not stop at any point that I want. When I pull down and release, it does not stop, it just retracts upward. Can this be fixed or do I need a new one. I currently use a large plastic clothes pin to hold it in place. Thanks ..................

A replacement is less than $10 at one of the large home improvement stores. Take the old one with you and they can cut the new one to the right width.

If that door privacy roll-up shade was OEM, it may be the Carefree brand privacy shade that is not designed with a "stop" ...mine hooks on a bracket at the bottom of the window.

My wife replaced our shade with a vinal window sheeting she found on the internet. No more shade. There are different designs and colors. It lets light in but you can't see through it. Works great.
