Driver chair problem

My MH has a Flexsteel driver chair. The chair mechanism below the chair has a rod going across the front. A weld has come loose. This causes the chair to lean to the right and it rocks a little side to side. I sent an email to Flexsteel and they said I needed to replace the whole mechanism which they could sell me. They have not given me a price. The said that this mechanism has only a one year warranty. So much for their lifetime frame warranty. I guess this is not considered part of the frame.

If I have to take out the whole mechanism to replace, instead why not just have my current one re-welded. Has anyone ever taken out the chair mechanism? If so, how do I do it? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks ................

First disconnect any wiring if any. You should have a pedestal that is bolted through the floor. Unbolt the entire chair from the top portion of the pedestal and turn chair upside down where it is easy access and remove the rotation/slider mechanism from the bottom of the chair if need be to make repairs. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thats to bad, I remember being pleasantly surprised by flexsteel's warranty when lookinhg through all the manuals when I bought my unit. I guess now I can only hope I don't have an issue.
Best of luck to you, if it were me I'd take it out and repair or attempt repair myself. Also, if it dosen't get any worse than that your in great shape, I'd trade my leaky window for a broken chair anyday!

I removed the chair. Four bolts/nuts to lower frame. Four bolts/nuts at the upper frame. I had to cut 2 wires. Unplugged one plug of wires. Removed cable and lock which causes the chair to swivel. Lefted out the frame and mechanism. Had it re-welded. Put back together and spliced the wires. The chair now works like new. It does not rock side to side and very solid. Thanks for the help.
