Beware of continued use of batteries with some dry cells. There could be damage which is causing a dead short in a cell and boiling away the water. This will eventually resort in all cells going dry and possible gas explosion.
If you smell any strong acidic smell or see water on the ground below the battery, that is a dead giveaway to a problem.
