Dual pane insulated glass replacement

Last Saturday afternoon while driving I-20 in Mississippi something impacted the fixed portion of a large sliding window on the driver side of our coach. It was such a loud/sharp impact that I ducked! I pulled over about five miles down the road to take a look. The impact point was just inside the glass at the metal center post, and looks to me like a pellet gun impact. It shattered the outside pane, but left the inside pane intact. There were no other vehicles around other than a couple headed the other direction.

We are headed for Perry GA where our insurance is sending someone out to take a look and recommend repair options. Does anyone know of a competent repair facility in Perry? ...or perhaps Montgomery AL or East Texas where we are headed next? It is dual pane insulated tempered glass with a very heavy dark tint.

Give Barnes Glass in Warner Robins a call they have mobil units and service all of middle GA. I've had them replace a couple of windshields.

I had a Canada Goose fly into the side of my motorhome a few years ago. Fortunately all I had to do was wash the blood off. But it sure scared me. We were going 65 mph on I-295 in Jacksonville at the time.

Fixing it won't be a problem for any competent glass company but be prepared for a week or two delay. They will measure the glass then probably have to special order it to be cut and tempered. Unlikely they would have one that fits in stock. Then you can come back for the install. If that's the case then I would plan to find a repair option somewhere where I will be for awhile.

Found local rv dealer who has ordered new window from Winnebago with anticipated 4-6 week delivery time. Talked to RV Fog Dr in AR and was told same time frame. Dealer wanted me to bring coach in and they would remove window and the coach would be w/o a window until new one arrives ...."only way insurance will pay" they said. I told them "unacceptable" and for them & insurance working together. I have little concern for it with the outer pane missing as the inner pane is still sealed and the frame has the normal drains in the bottom. It is under an open side cover at home base, and I open the window awning over it when parked on the road .

You can safely go as long until you hit the inside pane with another rock from the mower.
