DUO-Thern Control

I have a 2006 Nemar Scotsdale. I was servicing the rig today and when I try to cycle the A/C and heater the control unit would only show zone 2 A/C and I have to play with the on and off switch to get zone 1 to come up and them northing happens. Anyone got ideas on what's up.

Thanks

Actually, I really don't, but several threads have mentioned the AC power controller (ECM? is that right?). If you are connected to a low amperage circuit (the 30A 3wire plug), the controller will allow only one AC to operate at a time

Maybe that's it. Hopefully someone with more information will answer.

If you had the ceiling fluorescent lights on, a bad ballast in one of them will interfere with the communications. If they were on try turning them off one at a time and rechecking. When it gets better you’ve found the bad light fixture.

Just operating the zone button should select either zone.

First, reset the thermostat. That will re-scan the system to see whats connected to it. If that doesn't correct the problem, you most likely have a bad connection at one or more of the data cables.

These cables are exactly like phone cables, the only difference is the 4 wires are wired differently at the jacks. You have one cable from the thermostat to the Zone 1 AC. Another cable from the furnace going to Zone 1 also. Then the 3rd cable from Zone 1 to Zone 2, the rear AC.

I would get a can of electrical contact cleaner. Then remove the 5 cable jack connections (the furnace connection at the furnace is hard wired) and clean both male and female jacks. When you're at the thermostat, also clean that circuit board and all the switches.

Here is a picture of the coach wiring. Thermostat to A/C and A/C to A/C is a RJ11 type phone cable and the wires frpm the A/C to the furnace(s) is just two sepreats wires.

thanks, I will give it try after work, I do have a appointment for other work later the week if I don't repair it. I think I did do a reset and after the reset I lost Zone 1 all to geather.
thanks again, I will post what the turn out is. Good thing I purchased the 7 year extra warrenty on the unit.

Sounds like the connection between the thermostat and Zone 1. Just un-plugging and re-plugging at both places may just do it. I do go though mine once a year and clean all contacts as that's the biggest problem with these systems. If you want to know which connection it is, just reset after each connection check. Might be handy to know later which one is giving you trouble.
