eclipse awning won't retract

could use a little help.
I put the awning out with no issue but when attempting to retract the motor runs and the awning tube moves about an inch then stops.

all the gears are spinning as well as the bar that enters the awning tube.

Something stripped? is there a manual overide? Remove the motor?

Hopefully someone has experienced this and can share their knowledge as I would like this awning retracted before the wind destroys it.

Thanks in advance

From my searching on the internet it seems that the end cap might be rounded out and it may be possible to switch the motor end cap with the one at the other end of the awning tube. anyone know how to do this?

Since the motor is spinning I say the gear on the end is broken pull motor and take a look.

I'm wondering what the spring arm will do when I pull the motor from the awning tube. I assume the fabric is what keeps it from springing any further or maybe the arm is fully extended?

thanks for the feedback. im guessing not many have had this issue

Ok Good to know. I will brace myself and hopefully it wont knock me off the ladder.
An rv tech said as a temporary measure I can roll up the awning and tie it off.
This could prove challenging with the spring arms. Im thinking I could pull each arm in half way tie them off then roll the tube then push the arms all the way in.....I guess....I dont know because there is literally no info on this anywhere which surprises me.
At least I got a reply here. Thanks.

As I suspected the end cap at the motor was stripped. I switched it with the cap from the other end of the awning and this fixed it.

The Eclipse awning arms push slowly open when the motor is removed. Not a lot of pressure there but best done with the awning already extended.

If the motor is turning then the the shaft connection inside the roller tube must be stripped. I haven't had that part out, but have replaced a motor and done other service and its not difficult.

You are correct the cap on the tube was stripped and the arms while extended fully pushed out gently when removing the cap. I switched caps from the other end of the tube and its fixed now.

I hadn't seen it mentioned on this forum but I learned this weekend that my Solera awning can be retracted the wrong way. Once it rolls all the way out, it is possible to begin rolling it back up the wrong way. The fabric attached to the RV should be on top of the piece (tube) when rolled up.

I didn't know this when retracting it. Managed to get it fully retracted in the wrong direction. It would roll up a few inches and stop. I just thought it was malfunctioning until googling it when I got home.
