Electric power gear lacks

Key pad in error mode, had to retract jacks manually, I checked all jacks with a amp meter 4.5 amp no load 7.5 at start of load then 15 amp after 12 seconds, all 4 jacks with and without the breaks mounted, one jack at a time
Tried the reset procedure Also the zero and recalibration procedure.
Any suggestions...

Thanks Jim

Jim,

You may have the "OK" revision which means:

Simply press ON/OFF button for 8 seconds and it will reset computer.

Send a message to info@powergear.com with year, make, model and vin number with your questions. They will get back to you pretty quickly.

As suggested earlier, holding the on/off button for a few seconds will turn the annoying buzzer off, however, it will not take it out of alarm. Follow the error resetting procedure exactly and you should be able to get it out of alarm.

I would suggest telling PG as much info as possible, ie. why it went into alarm, how did you try to get it out of alarm, etc. It sounds as if your magnets may be dirty. Good luck and let us know how you come out.

Elkhartjim, you must have missed the operative words, "OK" REVISION. This revision was created after initial program became problematic and, of course, comes from Powergear.
Their tech group is very good.

As politly as I can say this, pressing theon/off button only silences the buzzer. It does not get it out of alarm/error mode. Follow these instructions which Powergear sent to me just this morning to get out of error mode. For information only, the procedure will get the jacks out of error mode whether you have revision og or ok. I'm just repeating what Tony with Powergear stated.

I would suggest to the OP that you contact Powergear direct to clear up any confusion you may have.

Island Jim and Elkhartjim,

I'll go with Tony for the complete reset procedure.
At least, you have it from the horses mouth and not the other end
which may be mine.
Nuff said?

Electric power gear jacks

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions, and the nice response,
Here,s my story, the jacks were working fine, I was trying to level my RV in my driveway so all I needed was the rear jacks, the touchpad started to display an error and alarm. So there is my RV stuck up in the air, well having no ligature in the RV. After I discovered they were electric power jacks I figured that I could supply 12v to each jack to retract them, witch worked.
Then I went on line and found all the instructions and procedures to work these jacks, of corse I tried the error code reset, and to zero the controller
Witch let's you run the jacks using the touch pad in error mode, well no luck with any of that, so after trying to contact power gear by phone for a week, only a busy signal, I emailed there tech support with all the description of what happened, and all my RV information, there response was that there was a problem with one of the jacks, and I needed to check for a jack that pulls moor than 15 amps, and described how to decipher a problem between the motor and the break, so I amp tested all the jacks and found that all four jacks pulled 4.5 amps an start of extend and went to 15amps in 12 seconds of extension one jack at a time, then I emailed power gear and let them know my findings, there response was that at no time should a jack go above 15 amps and there is a problem with the jack, I don't under stand how all four jacks can fail at the same time and I was only using the rear jacks, so what ya think? This is a 2006 national surf side with 2500 miles on it, I just bought this RV and it was the second time I leveled it in my driveway
Well I hope this didn,t put you all to sleep, well off to the repair shop I go
Thanks all. Jim

Well dang Jim. I'm certain all your jacks haven't failed at the same time. Its interesting that PG says they should not draw more than 15amps and according to what you say, none pulled more than 15 amps. How are you operating the jacks to test the amperage?

Lets start with the basics. Have you found the Powergear control module? It should be mounted on the ceiling of one of the bays. Are the wires coming out going to the individual jacks multi-colored? This will identify which revision controller you have. Also, on the black rubber boots covering the brakes, what kind of strap is securing the boot. Does it have an adjustable type hose clamp or a wire tie wrap?

We'll get you through this and hopefully without a huge repair bill. BTW Jim, you need to drive that sucker. With only 450 miles a year that it was driven by it previous owner is not good. You need to run the generator at least on hour per month under at least 50% load.

Get back when you have some more info and we'll see what else we can try.

Island Jim. Please explain the reset procedure you tried. Was it the one where you extend each jack in 2" intervals and then retract all?

I have a 2006 national surf side mh, the problem with my jacks Was that there was no power to the controller, even though there was power to the touch pad, so two power sources. I traced the system and found manual resettable breakers in the cargo hole for the electronics witch restored power to the controller and problem was repaired, also on eBay right now a salvage co has the complete jack for sale, I picked up every thing for $225.00 and $35.00 shipping there,s moor for sale
