ERS more questions
AAA about to expire for us and we are looking at other options. First a short story. The very first year we had an RV and first real trip we got a flat on the utility trailer with our Harley's in it. AAA said they don't change tires on them even though we had Plus RV. Fortunately Winnebago roadside that came with the new RV had no problem.
So now we have a class A, no spare and still may tow the utility. Here is what I could find/have questions about from doing a search.
None of the ERS plans cover labor or replacement tires? It appears that if you are provided with one it costs much more than buying one yourself. Love they way people take advantage of someone having an emergency.
Without being home to look right now does our Vectra have a place designed for a spare. I don't recall seeing one.
You get towed to where they deem the closest service unless maybe you can convince them there is some better idea that will not cost them more. (like your home).
Do any of them cover a utility? GS says boat trailer (I think after looking at different ones). How about a tow dolly?
The prices look same or better than AAA and aimed more at MHs but is the auto coverage kind of a side line like the RV is to AAA?
I see good things and bad about Coach Net, GS and CW making it very confusing. Having to pay for service up front doesn't bother us much as long as there is assurance we get reimbursed without a battle.
SO even though this has been kicked around a few times here what do you all think?

Hi Mark,
For me the difference between CN and GS is that GS covers a tow due to an accident. CN has a customer pays up front then follows a time consuming convoluted process to get reimbursement from CN.
I carry a fully mounted spare in the front basement compartment. It is centered in the middle of the coach.

Thanks Gary,
Good to know about the CN process. Hope to never have an accident but that is also good info.
I read in another thread while searching for info that your spare was in the middle of your coach. The only two compartments that go all the way through on ours carry an inflatable boat and outboard motor right now. They may get moved depending on what we decide to tow.

You don't need to carry a mounted spare the road service can mount the tire on the wheel that has to be changed. They do it on the 18 wheelers all the time.

This is from GoodSam:
FLAT TIRE SERVICE Don’t let your trip go flat. A service
technician will replace a flat tire with
your inflated spare. When a spare is
unavailable, we’ll call on our network of
tire providers (you’ll be responsible for
covering the cost of a replacement tire,
mounting and balancing) or we’ll tow
your vehicle to the nearest professional
service center. Note: Does not include
seasonal tire changes.
And yes, they list tow-dolly

HD4Mark. FWIW, Good Sam ERS, and CoachNet will change a utility trailer tire IF you purchase the best plan.

Thanks everyone. That clears it up a lot. Guess I will start looking for a place to stash a spare 22.5. Unless someone has experience with having an ERS replace a tire at a reasonable price. I expect a markup and don't mind paying it for the convenience but don't like being stung.

For the record, Coach-Net pays for a tow after an accident only if your regular insurance will not pay for some reason. They are the secondary insurer in the case of an accident. For all other situations, C-N is sign and drive.
