Excellent Repair Experience
After buying our new used 1997 Class A Hurricane, I wanted to make sure everything mechanical was sound so I started the interview process of places in the area that work on motorhomes. Yes I did say interview, since I expect this to become a life long experience with the repair shop!
The place I settled on is All American Diesel and Tire in Troy Texas and I'm glad I did. Most places wanted to sell me a package deal to look at everything - prices started at $800.00 and went up from there. Some were interested in taking 2-3 hours to do the job - at $120 to $150 an hour.
My new found friends in Troy stated it would take about an hour and they only charge $95 per hour.
They found a couple of items that needed to be addressed including the rear sway bar bushings that had rotted away. The bad news was Ford only sells the bushings with the sway bar, but I went for it anyway.
All said and done I got the vehicle back, but noticed that the handling wasn't quite right (this on a 150 mile round trip with high winds!). I then checked out both of the sway bars myself and noticed that the lower bushings were bad and hadn't been replaced (but the rear sway bar and the associated upper bushing had been).
Two weeks had passed since they had worked on it and I expected that I might be out of luck. However I took it back to them yesterday and guess what? The general manager took a look, had me leave it and by the end of the day I had it back with everything taken care of, including the front sway bar which wasn't part of the original deal. And the cost to me? Nothing!! This, by the way, far exceeded any expectations I had about what I would consider a great customer service experience (and yes they apologized many times!!)
So if you're in Central Texas and need your motorhome worked on I can recommend All American Diesel and Tire.
