Extend A Stay type question

Want to install an Extend A Stay or Stay A While. Mostly want to do it to run the grill from the tank. The grills I am looking at have the Acme nut and regulator together. It doesn't look like the T's have that connector. How do I connect to the tank?

Thanks......

Buy the package with all the hoses and it will hook right up... Mine connects right to my Baby "Q"

ps... If you angle the connector down a little, your bay door will close and you can run it up from the open bottom.

Hi taboky,
In addition to what has been posted, look in the yellow pages for propane dealers. They will have or can tell you where to buy all kind of adapters for propane configurations. I consider the one I found so well stocked and so skilled I put them in my GPS as a permenant location.

taboky,

I didn't see any info about your rig, so I'll assume the worst.

If your propane tank is in one of your compartments, you can probably disregard the rest of this post. If it's between the rails, you might consider...

Now, I'm not saying you haven't already done this, but...

Take a good look at your rig's propane setup. I was looking to supplement my tank with an external bottle so I wouldn't have to break camp to get propane. A somewhat different issue from yours to be sure, but not entirely.

I almost bought an Extend a Stay before I looked. I knew my tank was between the chassis rails, but, when I finally got off my dead butt and got on my dead back and found the connection between the electric tank valve and the regulator wouldnt work with the Extend a Stay. I had to create my own. I'm glad I looked first. Saved about $75.

Steve

Them make adapters for just about everything.. I gather the motor home has the standard POL type connection at the tank that the standard Extend-a-Stay has.. I do recommend this for a MH over an Extend-a-flow by the way.

Now you need a "Quick Disconnect" to ACME adapter.. your propane supplier or most of the bigger RV stores should have it.. Let me check one of those. .the much maligned Camping World.

And guess what.... I FOUND IT (Under RV Propane Accessories)
Mr Heater Corp - Propane "Steak Saver" Adapter - Propane Hoses and Adapters - Camping World

Thanks all,

My tank is mounted outside framerail, so I have direct access. That Steaksaver looks like what I need. Now, does that adapter have the valve inside or will I need to remove it everytime I disconnect the grill? I guess it wouldn't be a big deal, but much easier just using the Acme nut. But....just realized the hose on the BBQ probably won't be long enough, so I would need an extention hose anyhow. I would be disconnecting that anyhow. Heheheh

Thanks again,

The ACME fittings are supposed to have a shut off but I would not trust it.

here is what I'd do

The Extend-a-stay comes with a 10' Quick Disconnect "Extension hose" this has male and female fittings same as a "Throw-a-way" bottle would (On the one end)

I would use this hose to connect to the RV's tank.. Then use the Steak Saver on the other end of this hose.. Disconnect at this point.. (Leave the steak saver hooked to the BBQ and unhook it from the hose) for daily non-use.. Unhook the hose from the RV when moving (NOTE: this will result in some Propane loss, what's in the hose)
