My 12-month new coach warranty expires the end of January. Should I buy the extended warranty or not? A lot of you say don't buy it and use the money to fix it. I had an ext warr on a TT and it paid off. This MH is a lot more expensive to repair. If I buy it, which one should I buy? Thanks all.

I have never been a fan of extended warranties (Extended Service Plans). I have never bought one and I am way ahead.

Your Winnebago one year warranty has expired, but you still have warranty coverage on the bigh items like engine, transmission and chassis. And some of your appliances may have another year or two on thier individual warranties.

I suggest you save your money and use it for when things break. At least you will only have to agrue with yourself and not the ESP company.

I purchased one prior to joining this forum. I still believe it was the right decision for me, althought fully I understand others opinions not to buy. From what I read here and in MH magazines, it looks like you must always get approval prior to starting any work. Most problems seem to be with having the work done and then trying to get reimbursed. I hope it will work if and when I need to use it.

An extended warranty is insurance. Most people pay in more than they collect, to cover the expenses of the unfortunates who have really serious (and expensive) problems.

Like you, I was concerned over the risk of a very expensive repair on our DP, so I bought an extended warranty. Still not sure it was the right financial decision, but it does give some peace of mind.

For those that have an extended warranty after their coach manufacturer's one year warranty is over, and the chassis three year warranty is still in effect, if a problem arises, do you collect from both the extended warranty and the chassis warranty???

If you want a good one, go here:
Route 66

Purchased one June 06 when we bought our 94 Winnie. So far had furnace control board and blower motor replaced, thermostat replaced, convertor/charger replaced, generator stator, control board brushes and voltage regulator replaced, HWH jack actuator replaced, and electric step motor replaced. Luckily not all at same time, but if you go to a Route 66 dealer instead of a $100 deduct, you only have a $34 deduct. Still have 3 yrs to go on it but figured I've come close to recouping my initial outlay of $2500 for a 4year/48,000 mile plan.

I brought extended warrenty, but took the MH in for repair as the hotwater tank was not heating on 110. I was charge $105.00 for them finding a loose wire. I guess not every thing is covered.

I normally do not purchase exetended coverage for anything, however I did for the MH. My reason was that the items most likely to fail are big ticket items. My Newmar MH came with a 3 year coverage and would guess that if I had paid for the repairs the cost to me would have been about two years worth of my current CSP policy. Stuff happens, usually to me..so I don't mind spending the money. Like the age old question in RV'ing, "What rig should I buy" this question also resides.

Just get out and have fun.....
