Extended warranty?

What are your opinions on purchasing a warranty when buying a used coach? I feel more comfortable having one just incase something happens. The place I'm buying from offers a 12/12 bumper to bumper coverage by Easycare for $994. Their website shows a pretty decent plan. Just wanted to know your thoughts.

I choose to put a sum of money in a dedicated account and use it for repairs if needed. Others like to have the warranty. For me there are too many things excluded in the warranty and way to much fine print. Whatever works for you and makes you feel more comfortable.

Read the fine print first, then Google your plan to see if there are any bad reports. We purchased the Good Sam extended warranty for one year because this is the first used RV we have purchased and just wanted the peace of mind. It was pricey but a transmission or some other catastrophic failure would be much more. After the first year we figure that we will have a better feel for how it is treating us then putting some money aside for such disasters might be enough but the warranty is still available for two more years at the same price.

If you are buying from a dealer go over the rig with a fine tooth comb before paying anything and nicely ask them to repair it first. Then recheck the work. We had a couple of problems but so far our dealer has come through for us. The warranty likely excludes "preexisting conditions" so don't let the dealer try to convince you it will cover anything they don't take care of.

I bought the Good Sam's Extended warranty product last week. I was very surprised to find they cover RV's up to 12 years old. I only had about 40 days left before mine was too old for the plan. Once you have it, you can keep it until you have 150K miles on the RV. With all my systems (AC, fridge, genset, drive train, etc) being orginal, I think the peace of mind it buys was worth it for me. I hope to never use it, but I have less available cash these days to deal with the unexpected.

Just be aware that they Good Sam only covers the jacks the first two years. After that they won't.

I'm willing to bet if you needed a front cap, it would not be convered under some small detail or exclusion hidden the legaleze somewhere. This is probably true with a lot of these so called warranties. My rig is old enough now that it would be foolish for me to spend any $$ on any warranty of any kind on it. To each his own. JMHO

cheers

I think we will get the warranty. Since the RV is new to us, I just want to be safe. I'd hate to have something major happen two months later that a warranty would of covered. I know my wife would feel better too.

From what I have heard, Good Sam (GMAC) insurance, will pay the dealer direct for repairs, and that if true it is the way to go in my opinion. After reading all of the horror stories of getting the repairs approved by the insurance company and you pay and them have to fight the insurance company to get reimbersed, or find out that they only cover part of the repair. I get alot of information from the Hotline section of MH magazine where they write in to ask Hot Line to help get there reinbersment back.

Be careful and understand the coverage and who pays for the repairs. That would be the first question that I would ask and then clearly understand the coverage.

I'll read the actual contract but their website states this

Plus, repairs made while you are away from your normal service dealership are paid directly using MasterCard. No waiting by you or the repair facility to be reimbursed for covered repairs.
