Extended Warranty Suggestions

Since I keep on having problems with my MH and the Winnebago warranty part has run out, I am looking to purchase an extended warranty. It seems as though every month or two something quits or doesn't work. Does anyone have a good suggestion for a place or company to get a good extended warranty? The prices for parts and repair is becoming a bit more than I can handle. I have a 2007 Sightseer Winnebago 29R. Any good suggestion would be appreciated.

Concur with the good Sams warranty. We purchased ours after Monaco went up in smoke. We were at the Monaco factory in Indiana during the last week of operation. I asked the warranty advisors which company in the extended warranty field was the easiest to deal with and they all agreed Good Sams was the best for taking care of their customers. End of quote.... I still have some warranty left on the motor and transmission but none on any of the 4 slides. One slide problem will pay for the expense of the extended warranty.

Ray, I blogged today on extended warranties. It's entitled, "How to Navigate the Extended Warranty Minefield" and I think it might help you and others. Here's the link: Lee Litchfield Blog

Lee,

Thanks for very good information. I am personally not in the market for an extended warranty, but think the categories you mention should be discussed. Do you know if the Good Sam warranty is Inclusionary or Exclusionary, and is it backed by premiums or insurance?

Be sure to read the fine print of any contract for service. Know that maintenance will not be covered and owner pays for diagnosis. If the issue is covered, a set labor hour(s) for diagnosis is covered.
I have found that the more you use a coach, the less problems you will have if you keep up with scheduled or needed maintenance.

We also have the Interstate/Star and are very happy with the coverages. Our original service plan was a listed coverage type. If it wasn't listed, it wasn't covered! So when, for example, the hot water heater fried and we needed a new thermostat...the heater was covered, but not the thermostat! Go figure that one out!!!

Coach-Net

I have Good Sam's Road Service. I used them when a wind storm ripped my awnings from the coach at 7:00PM. The person who came said that he works for a company who services all road service/extended warranty companies. I asked him who he thought was the best road service and extended warranty company from his point of view. He said that the best is Coach-Net. He added that they allowed coverage for things that others would not. So when my present plan expires you know what I will get next.

I am loving all of the input on this extended warranty question. I am going to investigate all of your suggestions. Keep em coming. I pick up my MH tomorrow from the Workhorse service dealer, and now I have to take it to an RV service repair for the two motors that are burned out. Thank goodness the workhorse part is still under warranty. But not the kwikee parts. Again thanks for all of your input.

Although I can't comment on how good of a "value" it is, I am very pleased with my extended coverage from EZ Care by Ford. It was quite pricey but they have been outstanding in their coverage... even paying >$1700 toward replacing my Winegard ASC 2003 piece of "garbage" sat dish with a new HD slimline travelr.

Coach Net is indeed excellent, but it is for roadside assistance. I recommend getting Coach Net in addition to a service contract. It's not very expensive and they can walk you through things when you have questions or can't get something to work. They have certified RV technician on call 24/7 and many times they can save you from taking it in to the dealer and the charges you would incur.
