Feels like a good deal..

Am I thinking right? Loaded winnebago vista 35f except no full body paint. List is $132k.
I'm standing firm on a $85k offer with my 1998 Chieftain trade in. The Chieftain needs absolutely nothing. New Michelins, new wax job still shines. Everything works great on it and maintenance is current. This Creampuff will bring $20k with minimal effort.
So I am essentially giving $105k or close to it.. Isn't that a good way to look at it?
If I do, I'm getting only 20% off list..
Am I thinking right?

Shoot for 30% off of MSRP and negotiate a good deal on extended warranty.

Negotiate on the price of the new first. Do not mention the trade. Bargin, bargin, bargin, walk out, leave you phone number. When you think you have their rock bottom price then mention the trade and start the negotiation all over again OR sell you chieftain private party and make more money then the dealer will give you.

Sell the present Motorhome privately. Simplifies the negotiation on the new coach and you will get considerably more for it.

That's what I've always done with cars, but we got a better deal when we traded in our TT. Paid 15k for it, used it three seasons, and dealer gave us 18k for it along with ~30% off of MSRP.

We got lucky when we bought the TT. The dealer had a satellite lot with one salesman. It was late and owner wasn't around when we made a low ball offer. The salesman looked at some documents and agreed. We did all the paperwork and left a deposit. When we picked it up a few days later, with a not so happy look on his face, the owner told us the salesman screwed up. We paid cash and got the trailer. We knew we got a great deal, but were really surprised with the trade in value we got. We jumped on it right away. It was a 2011 Coachman Freedom Express 242rbs, with every option.

I would say: "We can discuss that AFTER we come to fantastic price on this coach."

I agree, work the new price first and only after you're happy with the deal do you mention that you thought about selling your unit outright but now think maybe you'll trade it in.... for the right price.... which will seal the deal.
