The Dicor 502LSW is great for most any kind of roof! Dicor says it levels better and is easier to use than the 501LSW!

I just finished replacing to vent caps using the 501LSW. Seemed to work as stated on the tube (my roof is fiberglass).

I've just used what was needed for the location. Some of the sealant flows better for use on a flat or almost flat roof and others are made for a vertical seam so it doesn't flow much if any.

IMO none of dicor products are any good. We quit using their products based on the fact they don't last and dry out quickly. When the manufactures that do use their products state in the owners manual that the unit needs to re-sealed every 6 months to validate the warranty is pretty much admitting that the products used aren't any good. All the products we use in our shop come with a 3 year warranty and in most cases will last 5-7 with basic maintenance. Yes I've seen some last less, but there's usually underlining circumstances. After getting a good education from a couple different commercial roofing manufactures (EPDM is regularly used in commercial roofing) and distributors we went with a product that has high VOC's and good UV stability. A good rule of thumb, if it's marketed directly at the RV market, it's "probably" not the best available product on the market. We can set our customers up with DIY kits for those that want to tackle it themselves, but I don't go giving out the info on the products we use as their not easily obtainable for the average consumer. Isn't it always that way.... the good products are harder to get?
Personally I recommend to people that aren't in my area to go a roofing supply house and talk with them about what your doing. Most, even wholesale only places will sell you enough as I'm sure your not the first RV owner to walk in to the store...

My fiberglass roof came with Alpha System #1015 All-weather, Self leveling caulk, but I touch up as needed using any of the Dicor lap sealants or even GeoCell Proflex RV. Any decent exterior grade sealant will work on fiberglass, but I avoid silicone-based stuff becase it is miserable to work with if you ever have to caulk again in that spot..

Gary, the PO of my coach used silicone to try and seal some slide room leaks. I now need to remove it to seal properly. What works to remove silicone residue? On painted surfaces? Thanks.

For fibreglass head to the marine store ,never use silicone.Nothing sticks to it and it will fail if subjected to more then 1 plane of movement.
Marine caulking includes polysufides and polyurathanes ,I like the Sikkens products, also 3M has some great adhesive caulks like 5200 etc.

3M 5200 is great stuff, but should never be used on anything that will ever have to be replaced. Once in place and cured, it will not come apart. Had a boat in our marina where a guy used 5200 to seal a through hull fitting. Few years later the fitting failed. In trying to get the fitting loose, the 5200 held tight, but the fiberglass ripped off around it. 5200 is very strong.

They make special solvents to remove silicone caulk. Here is one I've seen in local stores:
McKanica® Silicone Caulk Remover Gel (0354) - Pure Silicone Caulk - Ace Hardware
However, I've had decent results just using mineral spirits once I have removed the actual caulk material with a plastic or (more carefully) metal putty knife. The mineral spirits seems sufficient to remove the oily residue the silicone leaves behind.
