We will be full time in July traveling the whole U.S. My wife asked what i plan on doing with the few guns i have?
I have not though about this ,because at home had gun safe, etc. What about traveling through states(like New York, etc) is the m/h the same as my house? I will not put a NRA sticker on window that is for sure.May be a peace sign? What do other people do about this?
Thanks

Hand guns have diff laws that rifles/shotguns. I carry an app on my iphone called Legal Heat... it is a reasonable way to educate yourself about the laws of each state you are traveling through, but ultimately it is your responsibility as a lawful, responsible gun owner to know and abide by these laws.
I installed a small safe in my RV for my handgun..

You just opened a large "can of worms". www.handgunlaw.us is a good resource as well as the NRA's website. Washington D.C. Is the most onerous area. They just recently arrested a guy who had a fired shotgun shell hull in his possession. Federal law allows for the transport through a state but if you stay overnight, you're "fair game" for the locals. There are lots of "horror stories" for certain states.

Do your homework to make sure, but this sounds like a solution that should satisfy any regulation, especially if you put the safe in a storage compartment.

I've been traveling with mine for over 4yrs. now. I certainly don't advertise that I have them, but they're in the coach and handy if needed. One upfront, one in the rear. And wherever we stay for the winter I can usually find a gun range to satisfy my primal urge to shoot something. I feel a man's home is his castle, and he has the right to defend his life and property even if it does have wheels.
Smith & Wesson, never leave home without it.

Laws vary from state to state. Some will allow some will not, Also it matters if long guns or hand guns.. That makes a difference. I can not advise you on how to do it.
Personally I think a locked "locker" inside a locked basement storage bay. Unless the officer was arresting you and impounding the vehicle for OTHER reasons (And in some states even then) he or she would not have cause to make you unlock the box. But that is my OPINION, and as you may know. My Opinon plus {Insert cost of a cup of coffee here, do not forget tax and tip} will get you exactly one cup of coffee. nothing more.
