Fixing My King Antenna

My King antenna never has worked as good as my old batwings. This helped pick up more remote TV stations. It does not raise up off the roof, The A/Cs and other stuff can block it.

Since the pics I've attached with screws and painted it black.

Why would anyone be satisfied with a TV antenna that "the A/Cs and other stuff can block"?
Wondering

I have found that the best antenna is the King Jack Antenna attached to the Winegard pole that lifts way up. You lose those built-in signal lights, but your channels sure come in better.

IMO that is the best place to mount the King Jack antenna for decent long distant reception.

However I have found, (by experimenting with both), that my 19 year old Winegard "batwing" antenna, (with the $20 "Wingman" added), out-performs the $50+ King Jack, for receiving "far away" TV stations.
