Here is a pic of the damage I found on my tire. I looked closely on both sidewalls for riding down the road while flat. Nothing looks to be damaged, but not sure. The damage on the tire, is on the last tread before the sidewall. Damage on the outside might be worse than on the inside of the tire.

What does everyone think?

If this happened to me, I would say,' Did I drive on this tire like this?' If the answer was Yes, or I don't know, then that tire goes into the scrap pile. Which means the mate to it, too. Which means, probably the tires on the other side, too, because I don't want mismatched tires on the same axle.

How old are these tires? 5 years or more? Then I would replace them.

If the tire went flat sitting in the yard, then if I could find a good reason for it, I might solve the problem and re-use the tire(s).

However, I don't think that a tire breaks its bead from the rim sitting in the yard. I think that has to happen on the road. So, I would get ready to buy some tires.

If my coach is sitting in one spot for more than a day, I lower the jacks. Usually it is to make sure the coach is level for the fridge. But, if I'm storing the coach, or parking it for a little while, I lower the jacks to take the pressure off the suspension and the tires.

Well I got the tire off today. The tire guy inspected the tire, & said everything look good. The damage in the picture did not go all of the way threw the tire. The inside of the tire looked good. He remounted the tire, then started looking for leaks. There were no leaks on the tire, so he started on the rim. The valve stem was leaking. He put about 2 turns on it to seat it. Checked everything again, & the tire looks ok.

The tire guy thinks it just leaked down from sitting the last 3 months. He stated that he doesn't think that it had been driven on!

Is there anything that I should watch for, when I start driving it again! I am thinking take it on a 30 mile trip, check tire pressures, & inspect tire closely! The leveling jacks are down!

Thanks for the help!

it looks like you are a candidate for a tire pressure monitoring system such as the tst truck system. i give high marks to the tst system installed on my moho. i have the older system with the non-replaceable batteries in the sensors.

I took the MH for a 40 mile test drive yesterday. The tire seems to be holding air, & all is well. Don't know if I am out of the woods yet, but I am hoping for the best!

I took the MH for a 600 mile trip last weekend, and the tire has performed well! The trip was to pickup 2 new tires & aluminum wheels.

Now I have 2 new spares! Just my luck!
