Flooring replacement with slides

I hope I have put this in the right forum, please forgive me if I haven't. I have a 2007 Fleetwood Bounder 35E. It has a slide for the couch and dinette area , and one in the rear for the bedroom. I am planning on replacing the carpet with allure vinyl flooring. My question is , how do I go about replacing the carpet at the slide areas? I am stymied and would appreciate any advice , tips and photos if at all possible. Thanks in advance for any help,Bruc.

We just replaced all the old carpet and ceramic tile with a premium vinyl 12" square tile. We will now be replacing the carpet on the slide and around the bed pedestal with a good grade of carpet to match the floor tile. I don't see any practical way to put tile on the slide in our coach.

We just installed vinyl replacing carpet. Left carpeting in slide and bedroom.

BRUC,

I am planning on doing the same thing. My thought's were to buy a rug runner that has the edge stitched, an area rug that has the edge stitched, or take a section of rug that I want to use and have the edge stitched. As far as doing the actual replacement I would remove the furniture that it goes under, replace the rug, then put the furniture back. Good luck post photos of the project.

We installed Pergo laminate. Bought aluminum mouldings at Home Depot to both frame the slideout and create a seal and transition to the main floor.

If its a flush floor slide, the slide carpet has a flap that extends out to cover the joint to the main floor. You need to make some sort of extension/lip for the laminate (or whatever) to do the same thing. Just how you do that depends on the slide construction, but generally you put a 3/8"-1/2"layer of plywood over top of the slide floor and have it extend out several inches toward the interior. Then place the laminate on that and cap the edge with a molding. The floor is no longer flush, but its close.

Don't use the cheapest grade of Allure - get the thicker premium version called Allure Ultra. It will interlock tightly and hold up better. RV flooring experts also recommend gluing it down rather than floating.

I saw the blog below and they did a ton of stuff to their rig including the floor and I think I'm doing it the same as this. It doesn't show how they got the rug out from under the slide though. I thought about cutting up to the slide with it extended. Then bring the slide in about a foot go out side and remove the panels blocking access to the underside of the slide the rollers should be off the carpet at this point then pull the carpet up from the out side. Here is the blog I saw How to Replace RV Flooring on a Raised Slide

There's my answer! I don't want carpet anywhere and didn't know how to make the transition. Thanks!

On my 35E the pro installer ran into a problem after removing the old carpet. On the main floor, 4 or 5 carriage bolt heads sticking up that I assume held the vertical basement supports. He ground them down quite a bit then floated a coat over the area so the premium tile going in wouldn't show bumps.
It all worked good but the slide touches the tile and fine scrape marks can be seen if you look hard.
We carpeted over the slide base.
