This is probably a strange request, but has anyone ever run into this type of scenario? Thanks for any advice or enlightenment.
I had a similar situation a few years back when selling a unit for friends of the family, the husband passed away in Florida and the widow couldn't drive.
The Catch 22 was it had come into the US on a 'visitor basis', not 'imported'. When a prospective purchaser tried to title it the first question they were asked was "Where's the importation paperwork from the US & Canadian customs folks?".
Canada customs said they would ONLY issue export documents at border crossing point or port is going by sea. US customs said they'd issue the paperwork at any port of entry, even in Florida, but without the Canadian paperwork that didn't help any.
In the end the easiest thing turned out to be driving it back to Canada and selling it up here the next summer.
