Freedom Inverter not working

I have a 2003 Winnebago Journey DL. THe coach batteries were bad and I replaced all 3 batteries. When plugged into land source 50 amps the AC works but none of the other electrical work. I can press the inverter ON but that drains the coach batteries. It is like the "Freedom" inverter is only sending power to the AC.

The inverter does not power the a/c at all - the a/c gets its power direct from the shore source.

Your inverter receives its 120vac power from a circuit breaker in the coach's load center (breaker box), usually a 30A breaker. Make sure that is turned on. Then check the inverter itself - it has a circuit breaker or two of its own. That may be tripped or turned off too.

my 1999 HR Endeavor is having similar problem. 50 amp shore power will suddenly revert to 30 amp and some items will stop working (TV, etc). I don't know enough to troubleshoot but willing to try. when you say to reset the circuit breaker on the inverter are these he buttons on the front of the box? I'll have to research to find circuit breaker on load box. hmmm.

Once you have verified that there is 120 vac current feeding the inverter when you are plugged into shore power or have the generator running, verify that you do or do not have current leaving the inverter. If you have current going in but it is not coming out, then the inverter is not passing current through. Inside the inverter is a small 1/2 amp fuse on the transfer control board that may be blown. If you are not absolutely sure of what you are dealing with I recommend that you have a qualified technician diagnose and replace fuse if it is blown. All power, DC and AC must be disconnected before servicing; there is an extreme danger of electrocution if not.

By AC I'm assuming you mean air conditioner and not 120v AC power...Check all the circuit breakers in your 120v ac breaker panel..Sometimes they look like they are on but are not...Turn them off and then back on....If it is like my 02 Horizon the panel is located behind a panel in front of the bed...

Mjwest: THis was a really old thread, but I see you posted a recent response. I sounds like you are connected to 50amp shore power and intermittently you are droppiing power on one of the 50amp legs which causes your rig to "revert" to 30amp. This appears to be confirmed by your statement of some AC items stop working, such as the TV.

I would suspect you have an intermittent connection on one of your 50amp AC supply lines. This could be at the pedestal, in your 50 amp cable, in the transfer switch, or in your AC circuit breaker box.

Problem sources could be a bad contact in your transfer switch, or a loose connection at the switch, a bad 50amp breaker, or bad connections at the breaker, or a bad connection in your 50 amp cable.

Simple trouble shooting with an AC meter should confirm where the poor, or intermittent connection is. When the power has dropped (i.e. lost AC at some devices and reverted to 30amp) then find someone that is comfortable taking the covers off the various boxes, (i.e. pedestal, transfer switch, and breaker box) and determine where the fault is.
