Our fresh water pump comes on at the slightest use of water. This is somewhat annoying as it is a bit noisy. I see in catalogs that they sell an accululator tank that is supposed to take some of this sensitivity out of such a system. Any drawbacks / concerns?

Dan,
I don't see any problems with the accumulator, but I'd go with one of the new variable speed pumps, you get houselike water pressure & quiet operation. I believe that with the accumulator the pump will still come on but it won't pulse. I put in the shurflo 5.7 variable speed & like it real well.

The accumulator tank works to reduce the frequency of the pump. All Winnebago MHs have them installed at the factory for just this purpose. I suggest you find a friend that has a Winnie or Itasca and try the system before you buy to see if it will solve your complaint.

Dan, I'd vote yes to the accumulator before paying more bucks for the VSR pump. In fact, check at Lowes or Home Depot. They offer little accumulator tanks, about 1 gallon size, that are better than the small one quart size that Camping World offers. If you've got some room, the 1 gal. size is the way to go.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will look into them.

One thing I do like about the current noisy pump is that if a faucet is dripping, I know it.
