Fridge Cooling Fan
Hey guys, just wondering if you ever heard of these little blue fans that go inside your refrigerators? I just want one on Amazon and wondering if it's just a gimmick?

Get the white one, I hear they're better and yes they do work. First trip in current MH was to the Black Hills and Yellowstone, temps often in the 90's. We had frozen eggs on the top shelf and warm beer on the bottom shelf. Bought one of the white fans in Rapid City, placed it on the bottom shelf in the corner. Worked great, no more warm beer. Pretty even temp top to bottom in fridge. Two Duracell batteries last a couple of months. If you can find one get the one with the on/off switch. Ours doesn't so I have to open it up and pull the batteries when we're not using the MH.

I bought a blue one on Ebay last year for about $1 less with free shipping but if you have Amazon Prime you can have it in 2 days. It takes up about the same amount of room as a soda can. It is supposed to run about 30 days on a singe "D" battery. You and get hard wired fans also that can be wired into you Frig light outlet.

You think I would be one for the freezer as well? It separated with an ice maker.

These work very nicely. I did a DIY one with a small 12V fan I had laying around from some old electronics project of some kind (one of the zillions of components I find trouble parting with). I wired it into the light switch (so, it would complete the circuit when the door was closed, and the light would complete the circuit when the door was open.
Worked like a charm...no more frozen stuff at the top and warm stuff at the bottom. The key is *any* air flow..does not have to be very much at all. I also found that the cooling fins in the fridge did not ice up as badly as they did without the fan.
We now have a small residential Whirlpool (see HERE for details if interested) so don't have a need for a fan (although it would be simple to wire one in). But if I were to have a propane fridge again I'd put in a fan for sure.

What better alternatives (besides replacing with a residential fridge)? A fan is an inexpensive solution to the warm/cold problem...for me it solve the problem, and I found my cooling fins iced up much less.

Actually the type that connect directly to your light work very well. They are available on ebay for around $15.

Thank you TexasTom for posting exactly what I had intended on posting as an excellent alternative to wasting your money on a battery operated fan.

I agree with the "better alternatives" comment in the context of avoiding a non-battery fan. That's sort of what I did with my DIY...attached it to one of the fins, and wired it to the light.
However, if for whatever reason someone does not want to hardwire a fan (not handy with tools, does not want to do any wiring, etc.), then *for them* the battery powered fan might good alternative.

I'm sure the hard wired fan is better , but I wouldn't call the battery Fan snake oil by any means , it works .

X2 on the white one. I personally don't want to hardwire more stuff to the coach. 2 d batteries run mine for months. Would liked the on off switch option.
